Milk? No Thanks!

Milk? No Thanks!

Milk? No Thanks!

One sunny afternoon, the Asian Leopard Cat, the African Serval, the Bengal, and the Savannah were exploring a quiet village. They stopped outside the home of a kind old lady who loved animals.
She smiled warmly as she saw the four beautiful cats.
"Oh, you must be thirsty," she said. "I've always heard that cats love milk."
She poured fresh cow's milk into four little bowls and carefully placed them on the ground.
The cats sniffed the milk.
The Asian Leopard Cat wrinkled its nose and stepped back.
The African Serval looked at the bowl and said, "That doesn't smell like something I should drink."
The Bengal gently shook its head. "Thank you, but milk isn't the best drink for us."
The Savannah smiled politely and added, "Fresh water is much healthier."
The old lady looked surprised.
"I've always believed cats love milk," she said. "Have I been wrong all these years?"
The Bengal explained kindly, "Many adult cats don't produce enough of the enzyme called lactase, which is needed to digest lactose, the natural sugar found in milk."
The Serval continued, "If we drink too much dairy milk, it can upset our stomachs and may cause diarrhoea, gas, or discomfort."
The Asian Leopard Cat added, "Some cats may tolerate a tiny amount, but fresh, clean water is always the safest and healthiest choice."
The Savannah nodded. "Our complete cat food already provides the nutrients we need."
The old lady smiled and emptied the bowls of milk.
"Thank you for teaching me," she said. "I'll bring you fresh water instead."
She returned with a large bowl of cool, clean water.
The four friends happily gathered around and drank together.
"That's perfect!" purred the Bengal.
The old lady laughed. "I learned something new today."
Before leaving, the cats thanked her for listening and for caring enough to learn the best way to look after them.
As they continued their journey, the four friends agreed that sharing knowledge helps both people and animals live happier, healthier lives.
The lesson of the story is simple:
Many adult cats are lactose intolerant, so cow's milk is not an ideal drink for them. Fresh, clean water should always be available, and a balanced cat diet provides everything they need to stay healthy.
